How to Find Grail Secret Events
Each hero has hidden events. They are not a shared loot table.
Patch 0.39 added secret events for all characters plus a named Zappy hidden event. That is the official sentence. The game does not print a quest log with map pins. You find events by taking the right kind of node on the river and by playing the right hero. This page is how to hunt them without wrecking a six-win run. Routing still lives on map and nodes.
What a secret event is
It is a map event that is not a generic shop. It can inject a card, a trait, lore, or a named encounter tied to one hero. 0.39 also added Iconic cards — Rapier of the Rat, Carrot roast dinner, Johanna’s prosthetic — which drop as build-arounds, not as blacksmith crafts. Do not sit on day 8 waiting for a secret if your pips already stall. Energy and cards still wins the run.
Secret events exist per character. A musketeer canal is a Ratagnan sentence. A kitchen or carrot roast is Mabel. A workshop, prosthetic, or Johanna node is Zappy. If the event names another hero’s toy, skip it. You cannot splash Johanna onto a bleed chip save.
How to find them without a wiki spoiler dump
- Play the hero whose event you want. You cannot find Zappy’s hidden event on a Ratagnan file.
- Take unusual nodes: workshops, named NPCs, kitchens, city canals, not only Low energy shop.
- Woods clusters (Search, Forage, weird mushroom) can inject traits. Those are often generic, not the 0.39 character secret. Match the trait to the engine or skip. Trait tier list.
- Side quests that look like story instead of a gold payout are the usual door. They cost health. Do not open them at three player-battle losses. How to win a run.

Ratagnan hunt
Look for city, canal, rapier, or musketeer framing. Marron glacé and Rapier of the Rat are his 0.39 extras. Old city canal is a poison scaler in his pool, not necessarily the secret event itself. If a node smells like Stacklands village instead of a duelist rat, it is probably generic woods. Keep bleed chip as the run sentence. The secret is spice.
Mabel hunt
Look for kitchens, carrots, cheese, roast, or cook NPCs. Carrot roast dinner is her Iconic. Halter weight and Carrot bites are 1.0 shop cards, not secrets. A mushroom-for-trait woods event is only a Mabel secret if the trait names food. Otherwise it is a skip with extra animation.
Zappy hunt
0.39 explicitly added a Zappy hidden event. Take workshop, gadget, steam, plier, or Johanna-named nodes. Steam pack is a 1.0 shop card. Plier is a 0.39 tool. Johanna’s prosthetic is the Iconic. The hidden event is the map door that feeds that story, not the shop row. If you are still learning pips, finish a Ratagnan six-win before you spend trophies just to hunt this. What not to do
Do not take every glowing tree. Do not add two extra cards “so the event can fire.” Do not confuse cardopedia lore unlocks (win with different cards) with map secrets. Do not expect a Trello. Sokpop has not published a public board for Grail events. This wiki will not invent node coordinates we have not seen in footage or notes.
If an event offers a blistered upgrade, read upgrades and enchantments before you lock a sell. If it offers a trait that names a missing type, hold-remove after or skip now.
After you find one
Freeze the shop around the card it gave you, the same way you freeze around an Iconic. Then play toward day 10 with a thinner deck, not a souvenir case. Secret events are for people who already have a sentence. They are not a substitute for getting started.

Are Grail secret events shared between characters?

No public Trello is listed. Hunt by node type on the map, not by a spreadsheet we would have to invent.
Do secret events drop Iconic cards?
They can feed the same story. Iconics also drop as cards. Do not stall a run waiting for either.
Should I hunt secrets on my first Ratagnan run?
No. Finish a six-win engine first. Secrets are optional spice on a working deck.
What if the event wants a trait I cannot use?
Skip. Hold-remove if you already took it. Three trait slots are not a museum.
