Grail 1.0 Patch Notes
The candidate that shipped into the 1 September 2026 launch week.
Sokpop posted a 1.0 update on 28 August 2026 so launch week would not be the first time the full ruleset met a crowd. Combined with the 13 August 0.39 drop, that is the game you buy now. This page is the notes in player language. Strategy pages on the wiki already assume this text.
Tutorial remade
The demo tutorial was a shrug. 1.0 rebuilds it. If you bounced off energy pips in April, play the new tutorial before you write the game off. Getting started follows the new flow. How to play is still the long ruleset.
Over-heal
Heals can spill past the bar instead of wasting. This is a Mabel-facing rule more than a Ratagnan-facing rule, but anyone with Apple stacks cares. Status effects and the Mabel page treat over-heal as part of the kit, not a footnote.
Cardopedia: traits tab and filters
Traits now have a cardopedia page. Filters cover rarity, lore, and alt art. Opponent cards no longer unlock in your cardopedia just because you fought them. You have to earn names. That change alone makes snapshot PvP less of a spoiler log.
Characters and cards named in the window
1.0 list:
- Mabel cards: Halter weight, Carrot bites
- Zappy card: Steam pack
- Traits: Insulated, Antifragile
0.39 list (still in 1.0):
- Final boss on day 10, good and bad endings — walkthrough on day 10 boss
- New rarity: Iconic
- Zappy: Plier, hidden event, Iconic Johanna’s prosthetic
- Ratagnan: Marron glacé, Iconic Rapier of the Rat
- Mabel Iconic: Carrot roast dinner
- Shield trait Scutate
- Day 4 enemy Patrol recruit, enemy card Patrol helmet, enemy trait Unstable
- Secret events for all characters
- New music
- Cardopedia filters for rarity, lore, alt
0.39 Ratagnan numbers:
- Toothpick bleed 3/4/5/6 (was 2/3/4/5)
- Bayonet +50% on trigger instead of doubling; base 10/20/30/40 (was 8/12/16/20)
- Old city canal poison and increase 50/75/100/125 (was 40/60/80/100)
Those slashes are upgrade tracks. Upgrades and enchantments explains the anvil. Card tier list uses the new numbers.
Matching
You should no longer be matched to builds that continued their run if you have not reached that point. Snapshot PvP is still snapshot PvP. It is less often a time-traveller. PvP battles assumes this rule.
What 1.0 did not remove
Six wins, four losses, four starting energy, 40-turn stall damage, three traits, unique pools, trophy unlocks. If a streamer says “they added a manual combat mode,” they are wrong. Controls are still mouse, sell, hold-trait.
How to play after reading this
If you are new, ignore half the named cards and open starter builds. If you are a demo veteran, re-read Bayonet and canal numbers, then play one Ratagnan run before you spend 200 trophies. If you care about endings, survive to day 10 with lives left — how to win a run.
Store context, price, and languages sit on launch day. The rest of the timeline is the updates hub.
